• Becoming Australian

It’s funny how nearly 3 years later my older son seems to have been born here.  He absolutely loves Vegemite and Sausages.  He says “ta” instead of thank you when talking to his little brother.  He wants to put “sauce” nearly on everything!  Some people are “rat-bags” and some big things are “whoppers”.  His accent is becoming more defined and soon what’s left of his American-ness will cease to exist other than that of his birthplace.  My little baby is becoming a big Australian boy, meanwhile, I still find it difficult to say “nappy” instead of diaper or “dummy” instead of pacifier, but I’m getting there.  I have been using “bickie” with my younger son instead of cookie or cracker, so that’s a start at least.
