Hmmm...

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010Yes I admit I’m a horrible blogger but I’m a busy mommy. I’m still in Australia. I haven’t bailed out and there are no plans to do so in the immediate future. I do find myself not only adapting but assimilating into Australian culture. I’ve been using words like “nappy”, “dummy”, [...]
Slang of the day
Monday, November 9th, 2009Just had to share another Aussie slang term I heard “spit the dummy” which means to get to angry at something and blow up just like a child who starts to cry after losing their pacifiers (which in Australia are called dummies!)
So next time someone you know loses it tell them not to spit the [...]
Being a mother
Thursday, August 13th, 2009Obviously, I was already a mother to my, then, toddler when I first came here last year, however, having had a baby in Australia I’ve noticed some things that are a bit different here – mainly in language.
As I mentioned before, the midwives at the hospital kind of force breastfeeding down your throat [...]
I’m losing it…
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009I’ve been staring at the laptop screen for the past 10 minutes. I logged into the Lost in Australia blog to write about something funny that happened the other day but can you believe I can’t remember what I was going to write??? Talk about baby brain…I’m so losing it.
Since I’m already here, [...]
Twilight
Monday, February 23rd, 2009A few months ago, my sister and cousin, who are both in their mid-twenties tried to convince me to read the Twilight books. They believed it was the biggest thing since sliced bread. I refused. While I do love a good vampire-human love story, I did see that the target audience was for girls 12 [...]
Just noticed
Thursday, February 5th, 2009Now that I’m getting somewhat used to driving around here, I’ve noticed that there aren’t many Stop Signs. Most intersections either have a Roundabout (Circle in NJ) or a Give Way sign (Yield in the USA). I think I’ve seen 1 Stop sign since I’ve been here. I wonder if not having many Stop Signs [...]
One year anniversary
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009Today it’s been a year since we first arrive in Australia to call home. In that year, I have learned to drive on the other side of the road. I have learned my way around certain parts here. We have bought our own house. I say some Australian words at times [...]
Just a quick post…
Friday, January 9th, 2009to let you know I’m still here and wanting to write but been so sick and if not sick stressed. Stupid mortgage bank is giving us problems. So I’m dealing with what comes my way. Will write more as soon as my head clears…
2008 recap
Thursday, January 1st, 2009It’s now 2009 in Australia while in the States there are a few more hours still of 2008. As my hubby plays with his Xbox 360, I’m sitting here thinking about how 2008 was a crazy year for us.
From January 2008 to just recently our lives have been in a whirlwind of lots of [...]
Australian hospital
Friday, December 12th, 2008LJ started with a fever last Thursday. On Friday, took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with tonsilitis. Penicillin was prescribed. On Saturday, he had a rash all over his body. Back to the doctor, and it turns out he’s allergic to penicillin. He still has tonsilitis so another antibiotic is given. After [...]
