Happy 2017!

A part of me would like to say that I was partying the night away dressed in a slinky cowl neck midi dress with matching heels when the clock struck 12AM ringing in 2017 but no, I wasn’t. I was asleep. MJ had stayed awake with the guise that he was so cool he was going to […]

2016

I was planning on writing about how homesick I was for an American Christmas with my traditional foods like a whole roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, pernil (roast pork), etc versus a turkey roll and new potatoes. I was also going to write a review for Disney’s latest movie, Moana and how […]

American in Australia

I came across this article on my Facebook newsfeed: I normally try to steer clear of opinion pieces of Americans because I don’t want to be exposed to more negativity. But I clicked on this one.  I’m thankful that I did. While it saddens me that it happens at all, I’m also happy to know that I’m […]

Happy 4th of July!

22 Things America Has That Australia Needs

I agree with only a couple of these but not all.  If we were to adopt all of these then Australia would stop being Australia and just become America.  However, #1 and #2 are definitely needed!  A couple of the others would be awesome but that’s about it.

Australian in America

I saw this article posted on Facebook and found it accurate and funny, except for the politics and guns.  Never in all my years there did I hear someone bring up politics with a total stranger or in random conversation.  I’ve encountered more people talking politics here than I ever had while living in the […]

NJ – not a bad place to live

According to this article, New Jersey ranked high for its education achievements and its strong family and community bonds.   Well, of course, I was born and raised in NJ     🙂

Not quite alone but nearly

I came across a website where you can buy some Mexican food staples in Australia. While some of the items I was familiar with, it still wasn’t the same products I cooked with in NJ. I decided to do another search (one that I did countless of times when I first moved here): Puerto Rican […]

Something I didn’t prepare for

One of the things that you don’t think about when you decide to move to the other side of the world is what will happen when a family member is ill – at least I didn’t think about it. About two years ago, my uncle was diagnosed with cancer. However, with chemo, he seemed to […]
