One year anniversary

By Y | January 28, 2009

Today it’s been a year since we first arrive in Australia to call home. In that year, I have learned to drive on the other side of the road. I have learned my way around certain parts here. We have bought our own house. I say some Australian words at times like “trolley”, “mobile”, and a few others. We’re expecting a second child when we thought that wouldn’t happen. However, I still don’t know if I consider this home yet. I call our house home but I also still call NJ home when talking about it. I wonder if I’ll call Australia home when we visit the States. I miss NJ terribly – not as much as 6 months ago but still I wonder if MJ announced we’re moving back would I be off-the-wall excited?

Congrats on a wonderful milestone! You have certainly accomplished a lot in a year. And it appears as though you’ve gotten to a really good place and come to terms with the change much sooner than I did. I know my real home will always be where I came from, the US, but you can always make a new home in a new place. I consider myself really lucky to have two homes, here and there. I wish you the very best for your next year, two, three… :-)
